Around Marlengo near Merano, hiking begins in the most relaxed way – with scenic trails across three altitude levels, peaceful paths through apple orchards, and panoramic routes leading up to crystal-clear views. Whether leisurely, sporty, or somewhere in between: everyone finds their favorite route here. The hiking season in South Tyrol starts in spring with fragrant blossoms, continues in summer along cool forest paths, beautiful mountain tours, or high-altitude trails with sweeping vistas, and ends in golden autumn with dazzling colors.
South Tyrol’s longest Waalweg (over 12 km!) meanders gently from Tel to Lana – always accompanied by trickling water, apple orchards, vineyards, and wide views of Merano. Ideal for pleasure seekers, families, and anyone who prefers saying “wow” to “phew.” A sea of blossoms in spring, a riot of colors in autumn – and in between, plenty of benches, huts, and photo spots are waiting along the way.
This circular hike feels like a mini vacation in hiking boots: It starts at the Waldschenke near the San Felice trail and leads over to the Senn am Egg inn. At the top, the route continues gently through woods and meadows before descending back into the valley at Waalheim. Two places to stop for refreshments, plenty of views, and lots of peace make this roughly 3-hour tour a true delight for body and soul.
Hop on, glide up, switch off: the cable car takes you from Lana up to 1,486 m in just a few minutes. Up here you’ll find fragrant forests, charming summer cottages, and the historic San Vigilio Church.
If you like, make a detour to the Lago Nero (Schwarze Lacke) – a perfect spot for a break with a view.
The panorama trail rewards you with Dolomite vistas, and the charming single-seat lift or comfortable cable car brings you back down to the valley.
